Private Health Insurance Beneficiaries by Time of Association, Type of Coverage and Type of Insurance Contract (Brazil: June 2015)

In terms of the time for signing up with plans, an expanding market share is noted for newer plans. Significant numbers of beneficiaries are linked to group private health insurance (table below), mostly through companies with which they have employment or statutory links (employer-based health insurance), while others are associated through professional, class or sector entities (private health insurance by association). Entering the labor market stands out as an important factor for signing up with a private health insurance plan, especially through formal labor links. In addition to regular income earned through the job, this factor opens up the possibility of signing up with an employer-based private health insurance plan for workers and their dependants.
